# Grid Pilot > Grid Pilot is EFTT's energy management system (EMS) for battery energy storage systems (BESS). It brings battery, power conversion (PCS), solar, grid and market data into one control layer for monitoring, control, planning and reporting. Two products share one interface and data model: Grid Pilot Basic (commercial & industrial, kW scale, behind the meter) and Grid Pilot Compact (grid-scale storage plants, MW scale). Developed and commissioned by EFTT (Energy for Today and Tomorrow), Turkey. - Website: https://gridpilot.com.tr/ (Turkish: https://gridpilot.com.tr/?lang=tr, English: https://gridpilot.com.tr/?lang=en) - Company: EFTT, https://www.eftt.com.tr - Contact: Engin Oruç, engin.oruc@eftt.com.tr - Interface languages: Turkish, English, Ukrainian. Light and dark theme. - Protocols and standards: IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP, MRP fibre ring, IEC 61439, ABB AC500 V3 PLC. ## Products - [Grid Pilot Basic](https://gridpilot.com.tr/#basic): For battery systems at factories, cold stores, warehouses and commercial buildings (hundreds of kW; sample sites 836 kWh / 400 kW and 1,254 kWh / 600 kW). Plans the battery's day hour by hour from price, solar and load forecasts. Sources: solar, site load, generator, grid. Operating modes: price optimisation, solar self-consumption, backup priority, manual schedule. Supplies the site from battery and generator during grid outages and respects the maximum grid import limit. Reports: savings delivered, purchase price, charge/discharge hours, availability, battery health, fault log; CSV and printable. Works on phone and tablet. - [Grid Pilot Compact](https://gridpilot.com.tr/#compact): For standalone and co-located grid-connected storage plants (MW scale; solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, gas or coal plants, or standalone). Unifies BMS, PCS, MV protection and auxiliary systems from different vendors in one data model. Handles TSO (TEİAŞ) active/reactive power setpoints (Pset/Qset over IEC 60870-5-104), primary frequency control, remote/local control authority and a command log. Operating modes: market arbitrage, dispatch-ready standby, manual schedule, island operation and black start with grid-forming PCS. Monitoring down to container, rack and cell, liquid cooling and fire protection (FACP, H2 and smoke detectors). Reports: arbitrage revenue, auxiliary cost, TSO instruction premium, imbalance, availability, cycle count, round-trip efficiency, SoH. ## Compact screens - Overview: live power between sources, grid, battery and auxiliaries; SoC, available power and estimated time; TSO setpoints and PFC status; power, SoC and transformer temperature per block. - Topology: control-room devices, fibre ring and BMS/PCS/relay states per block; redundant and non-redundant variants. - Single-line diagram: breaker and disconnector states, energised lines, point-of-connection meter. - Devices: all containers by block, hottest cell, cell spread, warnings filter. - Commands: TSO setpoints and operator commands logged with source, time, value and execution analysis; unauthorised commands are rejected. ## Architecture - Three layers: field (block switches on a redundant MRP fibre ring, BMS and containers, PCS units, MV protection relays), control room (main and standby Grid Pilot controllers, main and standby SCADA servers, operator station, RTU, time server, firewall) and external systems (TEİAŞ TSO over IEC 60870-5-104, day-ahead market prices, remote monitoring via 4G/VPN, GPS time). - Redundant (Y1) and non-redundant (Y0) variants. In the redundant setup operation continues through a switch, controller, server or fibre ring failure. - Fault handling: PCS, feeder and connection-point faults trigger a re-plan with remaining capacity; cooling failure limits container power; BMS communication loss puts the container in safe mode. - Fixed command priority: protection and equipment safety, BMS/PCS limits and P-Q capability, TSO/PPC setpoints, operator command, economic optimisation. Protection, fire and emergency stop are hardwired and independent of the EMS. ## Control panel (Compact) - ABB AC500 V3 PLC (Y0: 1 CPU; Y1: 2 CPU high availability with separate I/O station), industrial PC, managed switch, firewall/VPN, UPS, 15.6" door touch screen. - Powered from the kiosk 110 VDC battery bus (Y1: two independent supplies). - Enclosure: IEC 61439-1/-2, IP54, RAL 7035, Y0 600 × 2000 × 600 mm, Y1 800 × 2000 × 600 mm. ## Delivery - EFTT scope: site survey and signal list, topology and design, integration and test, commissioning with TSO communication tests, operator training and support. Block, container and PCS counts and ratings are defined per project. ## Optional - [Live demo: Compact](https://gridpilot.com.tr/demo/compact.html): in-browser simulation of a storage plant's day at 1× to 1440× speed with event scenarios. - [Live demo: Basic](https://gridpilot.com.tr/demo/basic.html): in-browser simulation of a C&I battery site. - [Sitemap](https://gridpilot.com.tr/sitemap.xml)
